A mounting solution for new test computers and electronics was needed as well as physical kits made up for implementation at the manufacturing facility. Final version of all parts and sourcing information needed to be tracked in Arena PLM with an engineering change order (ECO). Test stand documentation had to be updated including installation instructions and bill of materials, and new drawings needed to be created for all new parts.
Design and create a mounting solution on existing test stands for electronics used in a new version of the manufacturing testing process. Mounts should be compatible with multiple types of test stands.
Mounted electronics on one of the test stands
Used SolidWorks assemblies of existing test stands to create prototypes of mounts for the various elements
Printed prototypes on Markforged machine and refined the design after feedback
Sourced fasteners, cables, and power strips
Printed final versions of all mounts to fit on two types of test stands as well as a tabletop
Assembled kits with all pieces to be taken to the factory
Updated test stand documentation with new images and instructions
Created technical drawings of all new printed parts
Created and submitted an ECO with all new documentation and sourcing information
Mounted electronics on another stand
Tabletop mount
Assembling and labeling the kits.
Installation at the factory went smoothly despite a limited time frame. Electronics were mounted and are in use in the factory as part of the new manufacturing test.
